"It's surprising how much of memory is built around things unnoticed at the time."

Not sure if this is "inspirational", but I like it (from Abe Lincoln):

"Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”

Did Abe really use the word "hustle"??

Hi Rakhee,
Since we can't obviously ask Abe, I checked online and everywhere I saw the quote checks out. Hustle it is, although it does seem strange now that you mention it!

Another quote I like and cite often is: "Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like nobody's watching."
(believe it's from Satchel Paige, who was a famous baseball player)

I've used some inspirational type quotes in a lot of volunteer work abroad that I've done. Two years ago, after killing myself in banking for a few years in Manhattan, I quit and taught math classes in an African village before business school. The kids really liked and wrote down quotes...it reminded them to think positively about the world and what they could accomplish. A lot of them really suffered from confidence and self-esteem issues. They'd complain that whatever they learned went in one ear and out the other. Apparently they were under the impression that everyone here in the U.S. is rich without having to work hard!

Sorry for the tangent! Guess the point is that these quotes can sometimes serve as a compass when one feels lost and needs some motivation and direction.
